In Arabic we call them:

الْمُعْتَلُّ الْعَيْنِ / الأَجْوَفُ

Madinah Book 2, lesson 27 first introduces and practices these verbs like:

قَالَ يَقُولُ
كَانَ يَكُونُ
سَارَ يَسِيرُ
بَاعَ يَبِيعُ


The lesson is extensive with lots of exercises (tamaariin).

Then Madinah Book 3, Lesson 5 onwards.
