Salaam
I am starting lesson 3 in Madina book 3 and I was wondering if the blue book the teacher mentions is in the houndout section of this website. If so can you please point it out to me. He said it would be really useful for the lesson.
Also can someone tell me the meaning of Horoom (from lesson 2).
Thank you
Halema

Wa ‘alaykumus salaam Sister Halema
In the conversation of lesson 2, one of the students ask the meaning of the word حُرُمٌ and quotes the following aayah:
يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا لاَ تَقْتُلُوا الصَّيْدَ وَأَنْتُمْ حُرُمٌ
الْمَائِدَةُ : 95
The teacher then explains its meaning in the context of the aayah:
Quote: Book 3, conversation line, lesson 3 :-----------
الْْْْمُدَرِّسُ: مَعْنَاهَا: مُحْرِمُونَ.
مُفْرَدُهَا حَرَامٌ : أي : مُحْرِمٌ
End quote------------
The meaning - along with other meanings it has according to the context one uses it - is translated in the Madinah Course Dictionary:
Quote :---------------
حَرَامٌ
1. forbidden, unlawful
2. sacred, as in :
الْْمَسْجِدُ الْحَرَامُ
3. pilgrim in the state of ihraam
plural:
حُرُمٌ
end quote ----------------
pg 52:
A Glossary of Words Used In :
دُرُوسُ اللُّغَةِ الْعَرَبِيَّةِ لِغَيْرِ النَّاطِقِينَ بِهَا
Arabic-English Dictionary
Dr. V. Abdur Rahim
-------------------------
The aayah quoted, reflects the third meaning given in the Dictionary.
Thus :
حُرُمٌ = Pilgrims in the state of ihraam.
And this is the same as :
مُحْرِمُونَ = Pilgrims in the state of ihraam
Hope this is helpful.
I will let Brother irf2k answer your other question inshaa Allaah.
Wassalaam
